  • Get your documents ready

What are the documents needed to apply for permanent residency?

  • A confirmation of your identity with a digital photo.

  • Submit your profile

Your profile on the express entry system is where your information will be assessed. If you are found eligible, your profile will be accepted, and you will be allowed into the express entry pool.

Once accepted into the express entry pool, you will be assigned a score using a point-based system. Furthermore, bear in mind that the score that will be assigned to you will be based on the information provided in your express entry profile.

Also, you will only find an option to submit your profile, if you have been sent an application to submit your application.

Eligibility questions

If you have a common-law partner or you are married, either of you has to be the principal applicant. The principal applicant will be the one to submit the profile and list the spouse in it.

The principal applicant is expected to meet the following criteria

Find out if you are eligible

Create your express entry profile

If you are found eligible for the express entry program, you will be automatically redirected to a page where you can create your express entry profile.

  • If you don’t have an express entry profile, kindly follow the instructions to create an account
  • If you have a reference code kindly enter it when you are being prompted to do so.
  • Provide your details, in the appropriate place

Before your application can be completed, you will need the following.

  • National occupational classification (NOC) should include your job code and title.
  • Information on certain tests, such as medical tests, language proficiency, etc.

Also, you do not need to complete your application in a day, you can exit at any period, your information won’t be lost, and they will be saved for a duration of 30 days.

Once you have completed your application, you will be allowed to submit your application online. Once your application has been submitted, you will be contacted on the appropriate express entry program you qualify for.

  • Receive an invitation and apply for permanent residence

Candidates with the highest score in the express entry pool will be sent an invitation to apply for permanent residence. If you are being sent an invitation to apply for permanent residence, you only have a maximum of 90 days to submit your application.

Only applications that are found to be mostly completed will be treated within a timeframe of 6 months or less.

Once you have your invitation to apply

Ever since the covid-19 pandemic, there have been changes made to how applications are being processed.

Also, it should be noted that after 90 days your express entry invitation will expire, which means, it’s the best advice if you start filling your application now, to enable you to get all the information and documents necessary before the expiry date.

The below process should be followed to complete your online form

  • Login to your express entry account
  • Once on the page, right-click on the link to apply for permanent residence

In the process of filling the form 

  • Endeavor that all the required documents are uploaded
  • Do not provide wrong information or submit fake documents
  • If you do not have all the necessary documents ready yet, save your information, and update them back, when you have those documents.

Fees

The application fee is $1,325

If you are coming to Canada with dependent children, the fee is $225

  • If your application is approved

  • If you are from a country that needs a visa, you will be mailed a permanent resident visa.
  • You will as well be sent a confirmation of your permanent resident.

If you Are Already In Canada
